Dr. McElfresh is the principal and founder of HR Futures®, a consulting firm that addresses the people issues of fast-growth companies, and brings human capital measurement and ROI to bear on solving the people problems of organizations of all sizes. He was previously the president and CEO of Saratoga Institute. Dr. McElfresh was also the chief people officer for New Relic, Exponent, SRI International, and Friden Alcatel – and while in this role, took the first two companies public.
Dr. McElfresh is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Academy of Management (AoM), Society of Psychologists in Management, the Forensic Expert Witness Association (FEWA), and the American Psychological Association. In addition, he has written editorials for the Silicon Valley Business Journal and has been interviewed for the Washington Post and HR Magazine. He has been a reviewer of articles and presentations for SHRM and AoM, was a charter member of the SHRM national panel for Human Capital Measurement and HR Metrics, and a member of the Investor Metrics Workgroup of SHRM.
Dr. McElfresh taught at the Boston College School of Management and the University of Massachusetts. He has served on the Boards of Directors or Advisory Boards of the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology, UC Santa Clara HR Management Program, FEWA, and the Bay Area Organizational Development Network. He is Past President of the Bay Area HR Executives Council. Dr. McElfresh earned a Ph.D. in organizational psychology from Boston College and a JD from the Santa Clara University.
